Session Liquidity Map

A framework for mapping session transitions, liquidity concentration, and timing windows before a trade thesis is formed.

Session Liquidity Map

Research objective

This page tracks one of the most persistent questions on the desk: how much of intraday behavior can be explained by the interaction between session transition, liquidity concentration, and volatility release? The goal is not to predict every intraday move. The goal is to build a better framework for deciding when an intraday signal is worth trusting.

Working assumptions

  • Session transitions matter because participation changes abruptly.
  • Liquidity often concentrates around obvious reference levels before being redistributed.
  • Expansion is more meaningful when it follows compression in a time window that historically carries genuine activity.

These assumptions are simple enough to test and broad enough to matter across different entry models.

Current lines of inquiry

1. Opening behavior after overnight imbalance

We are tracking whether overnight displacement changes the reliability of early-session continuation versus early-session fade behavior. The emphasis is on how price behaves near the first obvious liquidity pocket rather than on direction alone.

2. Mid-session compression

Not all quiet periods are equal. Some mid-session compressions are genuine balance. Others are staging areas before the next wave of activity. We are testing which structural markers separate the two states well enough to matter in execution.

3. Late-session repositioning

Late-session flow can clarify whether a day is finishing in balance, trend continuation, or forced reversion. This has implications for overnight posture, next-session preparation, and how we interpret late signals inside otherwise noisy days.

Why this belongs on the site

This is the kind of research page we want the public site to support. It is more durable than a single short-form publication because it organizes a broader line of inquiry. Over time, related publications and software pages can point back here so the site develops a coherent structure rather than becoming a flat feed of unrelated posts.
